We've got the bug...bigtime!!!

Well CC and I had our first "junk sale" this past weekend and...it was AWESOME!!!  We sold almost everything! We totally have the bug and are trying to figure out how we can make as much money "junking" as do nursing! Hmmm....We have came up with all kinds of ideas, for example buying our own building, renting space, having occasional sales, etc. We didn't come up with any great answers...any ideas from blogland from those of you that have started your own business?  It was so fun and so worth all the time and effort (we think its a blast!) and what a great way to keep creating and JUNKING! If anyone has any great ideas out there, please let us know! We'd love to hear them...for the meantime we'll keep vending out of The Red Poppy which is the awesome little store here in town!  Here are some of the pics!
Sweet little headboard that CC did! Perfect for that little girl!

Here is the hutch from the previous post I redid! LOVE it!  Could have sold it a dozen times! Note the little toy soldiers on it...haha CC I HAD to point them out! =)

Here's one of the "pot chairs" I had done, a nice lady bought both of them for her porch...remember my wish/love for a porch....see?!  This chair is why! Won't it look great?

Here is a vanity that I did that my Sister In Law Tracy found for me!  What a great find! I'll put the before pic/after pic in later in the week! It ended up being beautiful! Seriously could have sold it 100 times! Also check out the insulator candle holders! How awesome are they? CC did them with the help of her hubster! Beautiful and they all sold right away!

A little piano bench and wicker coffee table CC did! More of her creative awesomeness!  The piano bench is still available if anyone is interested! Its super nice!

Our girly pink grouping! Love, love, love the zebra rocker! It was a huge hit that CC created!

More kid ideas!

Appetizer picks! I think these are the cutest thing ever when entertaining!

Not a great picture but I love the candlebra and CC hated it...it made us laugh all day!

Some awesome whiteness! This was the table a few posts back (there is a 'before' pic) Turned out great but you all know I have a weakness for white shab!

The other "pot" chair along with the table Katie did a few posts back! She hasn't asked me for the money yet....I'm just waiting for her to though!

Some signs Kate and I did in an awesome crate CC found at a sale! The dear hubsters put barbed wire on the signs...it totally made the sign!

Some more awesome whiteness! =)  Love the white!

An awesome trunk I found at a sale, I knew it would make a perfect coffee table! These two really cute high school girls bought it for their mom because she had been looking for one for a long time to use as a...coffee table!  They were so excited! How sweet are those girls to their  mom!

Cute little spring candle holder!

An awesome rocker and stand! These too could have sold a hundred times over! More insulator candles - these ones are sconces! Great! Check out the barbed wire basket...the hubster made it! No kidding!

Okay this is one of my favorite things...I love, love, love these wheels! Are they not the cutest thing ever? I just can't get over it! The cute pics are CC and her fam!

More white...I heart you!

And this my friends is all we have left!!! I know right, unbelievable. We sold almost everything! I love our little business! What a great time and we met so many awesome people! We had a blast!

The back of our shirts...how cute are these?!

Afterward a little celebrating...and bragging! Haha! Really we would like to thank everyone for stopping by and taking part in our sale! We love you girls!!!

Happy Fall!

I  know, I know...it's been awhile!  Where have I been? Busy with the usual...mom, wife, nurse, student, etc. etc. HOWEVER!!! I've been busy creating AND getting ready for a show!  Can't wait! I'll be at the FHS craft show with my good  friend and scheemer, Christy! Cannot wait! Now there are two Sparkle and Shine girls...what will we do?! Its going to be a great show so I hope you can make it! Here is a little peek at some "before" pictures as to what will be there...you'll have to attend to see the "after!" They are awesome!!!

A great, great little end table that has been painted up!  Just imagine the detail in white!
Awesome little hutch that I'd really like to keep!  Wait until you see the "after" done in black! I heart!
Here is an ugly, ugly little primative table the hubs and I bought at an auction! This is it with a coat of primer because, once again, I forgot before pics!  Picture it scuffed up, ugly, dark brown...
Katie wanted to try "redoing" so I let her do this entire revamp! She is in love with junking! Ahhh that's my girl!
Here it is all done up and then "stressed" out!  Her words, "that was so fun...I get to keep the money when it sells don't I?" Too funny!

Onto another great find...
Here is a BEAUTIFUL oil painting I fell in love with at an auction!  I love, love, love the picture and colors! It is so pretty! I paid $12.50 for it which the hubster thought was a little bit much but he can't envision what it will look like with the frame redone...
Here she is! I absolutely love it! The frame is actually done in an off white (heirloom white) but it looks white-white here. I haven't distressed the frame out yet and I'm not sure I'm going to...I just adore it! BTW she is NOT for sale, she is happily hanging in my living room! =)

So remember our show on November 6th, we'll be the girls with the sparkle! Can't wait! Hugs!

The last months craziness!

Hey all!  I know I say this every time but "where does the time go"?  Summer is gone, school's started, leaves are turning, getting cooler....fall is here!  I love this time of year...nothing like taking long walks throwing pumpkins at people you don't like!  Just kidding!  (Although I could come up with a few people off the top of my head....ahhhhh.)  Anyhow, its been a busy month of redoing/refurbishing!  Even though its been crazy busy I find myself running out to the garage to create - even if it is something little!  Keeps me sane!  Nice thing is DH is getting into it too!  Fixing stuff up for me, nabbing great finds!  Nice....I know!

I bought this little gem of a coffee table at a garage sale...she was closing when I showed up so it was cheap, cheap, cheap!  $2.50
This was taken after the sanding began...it did need a LOT of sanding so...
...nothing like free help!  She's so cute too!!!  =)
Here it is on display at The Red Poppy!  I forgot to take a picture after it was done, before I brought her into the store - so just envision none of the "stuff" on it!  (Note to self...you really need to take photography lessons). It turned out pretty stinking nice!  And my "sander" says she is taking all the credit!  (Also wanted $10 for her work...really I didn't even pay that much for the thing)!  Silly girl, never try to outsmart Mom...she does know best!

I forgot to take pictures of the next two redo's!  Bummer!  Just imagine this night stand as an ugly, brown, plain jane color...nothing going for her that was for sure!  I redid her black and now...beautiful!  I would have loved to keep her but I don't have a room with black...I'm so into the white!
Sitting proudly at the store!  Isn't she nice?  (Again note to self...invest in some photography lessons)

This next little t.v. tray was a find from my Mom.  I'm not sure where she picked it up at or what she paid but it was an ugly, ugly yellow!  I'm serious it was hideous!  Nothing looks better than red so she got a new color but...still looked b-o-r-i-n-g!!!  So, I thought I would paint the top and then add something....I forgot I had just bought these awesome stencils from Stampinup!  I love, love, love it!  Wanted to keep it too but it has to go!  Here it is at the store:
Love it!

Here is a pic of the stencil on top:
These stencils are fairly new to SU but you can order them through yours truely!  I've worked with a lot of stencils over the years and these are, by-far, the best quality!

Here are some pics of just some random candlesticks I've done when I need a little break between writing papers and research!  They are quick, easy, and give me that break I need to stay sane!

I really need to take a photography class or two...that is so apparent to me today!  Anyhoo, hope you all have an awesome weekend!  The hubster and I are going to Junk Bonanza!

I cannot wait!  Three days of junking, ideas, freedom.  (And I'm sure some wine will be involved)!!!  It's going to be great!  Best part...kids are staying home with Grandma!  Everyone needs a little break once and awhile!  So have a great weekend and I'm sure I'll be back with GREAT ideas!  Hugs!

Seeing Red!!!

Okay, so I did the red dresser/storage/shelf thingy and fretted over the color - which I said was so unlike me to be so indecisive!  Anyhoo, I totally loved the color after it was done so I did a few more items red!  The first was a garage sale score my wonderful Mom found!  I think it was initially suppose to have a mirror or maybe a picture in the middle of it but that was missing.
Here it is ready to be primed.  Sorry about the upside down picture - could NOT get it to turn no matter what I did!  Ugh, sometimes I am just not too bright technically challenged!

Here it is with that fabulous red!!!  Love it!  I added a piece of wood in the middle which I covered with chalk board paint...however it was still missing something!  Then I had another "a-ha" moment and went to the old cricut machine and cut out the "market" sign!  I thought how perfect for the kitchen or pantry!  Luv-luv-luv the red!

So I was still seeing RED after that project when I decided to tackle another little gem my Mom found me!  This little chair was so unique!  It was an odd size which made it so funky and cute!  It's hard to see the uniqueness in the picture so you have to trust me on this!  Super fun!
It was also missing the top seat part. Therefore I thought I'd try my hand at making a "flower pot chair" that are so popular! I actually ended up finding a flower pot that fit perfectly in the center so I didn't even add any wood to cover it!  I just painted the chair, painted the pot and set the pot in, and "ta-da"!  Another shab to fab find!

On display at The Red Poppy!  It didn't last long - sold right away to a very good home! (*wink/wink you know who you are)!  =)

Here they both are on display at The Red Poppy!  Both have sold and sold quickly (yah!) but they would have ended up in my house if they hadn't!  Super cute!  Enjoy!

Another Shab to Fab find!

I love being in the junk business!!!  I love it even more when I can get other people's dirty, rotten, ugly junk "antiques" for FREE!!!!!!  Yeah baby!  Recieved a call from my friend Dawn (thank you Dawn) who informed me there was a dresser sitting outside our senior center free for the taking!  Well, of course, I jumped into my car and headed up there and here this beauty was!  I was sure I could do something with it but I wasn't quite sure what.  So, we loaded her up and I brought it home.  DH thought, "What a peice of crap!" "Wow my wife is so awesome, how lucky am I that she can find such awesome treasures?"
The outside is actually covered with a veneer coating so I wasn't sure how well it would clean up.  The two bottom drawers were in rough shape so I let it sit until I decided what I could do to reinvent it...
A picture of the inside!  Rough!!!

...well it sat in my garage for exactly 2 days and then I had an "A-HA" moment!  I would take out the bottom two, worthless drawers and make it into a little storage/shelf/thingy!!!  I've seen other people's creative storage/shelf/thingy reinventions and decided this would be perfect!!!   However once I removed the drawers, I figured out (with some help from DH) that the veneer wouldn't be strong enough to hold much on the bottom shelf AND it looked like crap unattractive with the drawers missing due to the drawer slats.  So DH came to the rescue and fixed it all up!  He added some wood to the sides and bottom to strengthen it and hide the drawer slats.  Now it is super strong and could hold a small tied up child who has been misbehaving just about anything!  Next I had to decide on the color which I fretted about (so very unlike me to be so undecisive).  I chose red, being it is going up for sale at The Red Poppy, I decided it was fitting!
Here she is in all her glory!  Super fun, creative, and repurposed!  Love it!!!  Also love my DH who helped me redo it!  He really is getting into this junk business too...even if he won't admit it!  Hee hee!
Gotta love his fishing hat!!! =)

I'm linking up to Domestically Speakings Power of Paint Party!  Check it out here:

Super cute basket/stool/storage thingy?!? =)

My mom found this really, really ugly basket but she knew I could do something cute with it!  It's a wicker material on the outside but I'm not sure what you would really call it....a basket, a stool, a storage box?!  Not quite sure but I do know it was UGLY!   I knew as soon as I saw it that it would make a great storage spot for kids toys!  For those that don't know me, I am super into storage containers and organization..."everything has a place" is the motto around here.  If DH and kids follow that than it prevents me from turning into a psycho ranting fool I am happy!  *wink/wink*

Here it is before, not cute!!!
Awesome potential though with the storage!!
Already looking better with just the primer on her!!!

Here it is!  Isn't it the cutest thing?  Can't you just picture it in a nursery holding extra items like lotion, soap, etc. or a little girls room holding her doll clothes?!  Love it!  Great find Mom!!!  The picture does not do it justice!  It is so adorable!  And...its for sale and The Red Poppy!  If you haven't stopped lately, you must!  Lots of new, fun, unique items - not to mention the flowers!  Have a great weekend!  Hugs!
