Seeing Red!!!

Okay, so I did the red dresser/storage/shelf thingy and fretted over the color - which I said was so unlike me to be so indecisive!  Anyhoo, I totally loved the color after it was done so I did a few more items red!  The first was a garage sale score my wonderful Mom found!  I think it was initially suppose to have a mirror or maybe a picture in the middle of it but that was missing.
Here it is ready to be primed.  Sorry about the upside down picture - could NOT get it to turn no matter what I did!  Ugh, sometimes I am just not too bright technically challenged!

Here it is with that fabulous red!!!  Love it!  I added a piece of wood in the middle which I covered with chalk board paint...however it was still missing something!  Then I had another "a-ha" moment and went to the old cricut machine and cut out the "market" sign!  I thought how perfect for the kitchen or pantry!  Luv-luv-luv the red!

So I was still seeing RED after that project when I decided to tackle another little gem my Mom found me!  This little chair was so unique!  It was an odd size which made it so funky and cute!  It's hard to see the uniqueness in the picture so you have to trust me on this!  Super fun!
It was also missing the top seat part. Therefore I thought I'd try my hand at making a "flower pot chair" that are so popular! I actually ended up finding a flower pot that fit perfectly in the center so I didn't even add any wood to cover it!  I just painted the chair, painted the pot and set the pot in, and "ta-da"!  Another shab to fab find!

On display at The Red Poppy!  It didn't last long - sold right away to a very good home! (*wink/wink you know who you are)!  =)

Here they both are on display at The Red Poppy!  Both have sold and sold quickly (yah!) but they would have ended up in my house if they hadn't!  Super cute!  Enjoy!

Another Shab to Fab find!

I love being in the junk business!!!  I love it even more when I can get other people's dirty, rotten, ugly junk "antiques" for FREE!!!!!!  Yeah baby!  Recieved a call from my friend Dawn (thank you Dawn) who informed me there was a dresser sitting outside our senior center free for the taking!  Well, of course, I jumped into my car and headed up there and here this beauty was!  I was sure I could do something with it but I wasn't quite sure what.  So, we loaded her up and I brought it home.  DH thought, "What a peice of crap!" "Wow my wife is so awesome, how lucky am I that she can find such awesome treasures?"
The outside is actually covered with a veneer coating so I wasn't sure how well it would clean up.  The two bottom drawers were in rough shape so I let it sit until I decided what I could do to reinvent it...
A picture of the inside!  Rough!!!

...well it sat in my garage for exactly 2 days and then I had an "A-HA" moment!  I would take out the bottom two, worthless drawers and make it into a little storage/shelf/thingy!!!  I've seen other people's creative storage/shelf/thingy reinventions and decided this would be perfect!!!   However once I removed the drawers, I figured out (with some help from DH) that the veneer wouldn't be strong enough to hold much on the bottom shelf AND it looked like crap unattractive with the drawers missing due to the drawer slats.  So DH came to the rescue and fixed it all up!  He added some wood to the sides and bottom to strengthen it and hide the drawer slats.  Now it is super strong and could hold a small tied up child who has been misbehaving just about anything!  Next I had to decide on the color which I fretted about (so very unlike me to be so undecisive).  I chose red, being it is going up for sale at The Red Poppy, I decided it was fitting!
Here she is in all her glory!  Super fun, creative, and repurposed!  Love it!!!  Also love my DH who helped me redo it!  He really is getting into this junk business too...even if he won't admit it!  Hee hee!
Gotta love his fishing hat!!! =)
