My new name and adventure!

As if I needed one more thing on my plate....I've decided to go into the refurbishing/detrashing business!  I've been thinking about it for a long time and have always LOVED beautifying junk treasures!  I already had planned to make more time for myself "creating" (that is my therapy) - this way I hope to make some money out of it!  A new flower shop has opened in our little town (go here) and I'll be selling my recreations in there!  I am still a wife, mom, L&D nurse, student, etc but now I get to do something all for me, me, me!  =)   I have a new name (how cute is that?) and a garage full of junk to beautify!  Keep looking in on my new creations (and super cute kids) and if you have any junk - throw it my way!  Hugs!
Katie's class went to the Shrine Circus and she bought Carly a guitar (with the spending money we had sent along with her) because Kate just knew "she would absolutely love it"!  How sweet is that?!? Kate dressed up as a "rock star" and they rocked out!  I love these girls!  ; )

Before and After Dining Area Make-over

I'm having issues downloading pictures from my camera, so I was going through some old before and after pictures when I came across the ones when we remodeled our dining area.  We remodeled it 3 years ago but what a difference it made!  We knocked out a wall and closet to open the area up!  It looks 1000% better.
This is an angle taken from our living room, you can see our front door (which was also replaced) and the dining area through the window in the wall.  My BIG question...why, why, why, would they even build it like that is beyond me!)

Another view of the lovely wall window!  Ugh!  The before pictures are taken in really bad lighting but it was a dark, claustraphobic area which is now nice, bright, and open!

The after pictures!  The window treatments aren't up yet, and it looks quite a bit different now (3 years later),  but you're able to see the new open area, paint, floor, windows, etc.  HUGE project but HUGE  difference!   And so worth it!

Here is another angle from the  dining area.  I painted my (oak) table and chairs which was one of my first huge projects! I wanted my chairs all different colors!  DH thought that was a dumb idea but he is color blind so what does he know?!  Ha!  (Yes, I tell him that all the time)!  Anyhow I loved the way it turned out!  I ordered some vinyl words that I added to the backs of my chairs, however, now that I have my own cutting system, I could cut them out myself!  Like I said I did it 3 years ago (didn't think to take a before picture) and it has held up pretty good!  Probably could use a new top coat, so one of these days....I just might get to it!  Enjoy!  Hugs! ; )

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Everyone!  May your day be happy and blessed!

While stalking many fabulous blogs, I came across a ton of ideas for turning those ugly, cheap looking dollar store birds into beautiful, fabulous little gems!  So, of course, I had to try it!  I bought the little birds at our local dollar store for $1.25 (hmm...didn't I say DOLLAR store?  Yep....inflation?!?)  I had these gold candle sticks.  I hate to admit it but I actually paid a lot of bucks for these bad boys about 5 years ago at a home decorating party! Anyhoo, I spray painted them with a quick coat of primer and then used my fave, heirloom white spray paint!  Next I took some antiquing gel to give them that "aged" look I love so much!  For the eggs, I simply sprayed them with a coat of primer, then sponged on some acrylic craft paint!  Cheap and easy!  I, of course, had to add some bling but toned it done a bit with some jute and twine!  Super easy, super cheap, and super cute!
What was I thinking?!?
Getting ready for their face lift!
I added some moss "nests" on top of the candle holder for the birds to "rest" in but I didn't have it when I was taking the pictures!  It adds a lot of super cuteness!

Ta-da!!!  I totally cased this cute project from someone elses blog and I can't remember whose it was and have spent too much time trying to refind it!  Sorry!  So, if this was your idea or you know whose is was, please let me know as I would LOVE to give them the credit for such a fabulous idea!  Enjoy!
