Dresser Re-do

I found a great sale and ended up buying 3 dressers! I did pay a little more for them than I usually do but they were good, solid peices so I think it was worth it! Don't you love sales like that! I'm keeping 2 of the dressers for when I redo our girls' rooms later this summer but just couldn't wait to get this one done. I wanted a really rustic, beachy feel as there are a lot of lake homes around here (you know....Minnesota - home of 10,000 lakes or how others say it home of 10 lakes and 10,000 swamps! Whatever floats your boat right?) Anyhow, here is the before....nothing "beachy" about it!
Here is is after!
Love, love, love it! I wish I had a beach house to put it in! Ha!

All that chippy goodness! *Sigh*

Anyhow, hope you have a great day! After this post I think I need to take the kids to the beach...

I've gone table crazy!

Yep, it's official...I've gone table crazy! I love, love, love tables! Little side tables, end tables, coffee tables, you name it - I love it! Here's a few that I've done over the past couple months...and I have 3 in my garage to get too! That is just plain sad awesome that something so little can make me so happy!
A not so cute table...
but look at that potential!
Oh yeah, I knew it would be awesome! On display at The Poppy Trading Post!

Isn't she BAD? Also that dang Dusting Fairy didn't show up again...hmmm.
Here she is all done up with some awesome scrap book paper! I love it!

A glimpse of the top...
Where's that Dusting Fairy again???
Super cute detail!
Here she is in all her shabby white glory! (I know, I know...not the best picture but you get the idea!) She is super duper nice!

Anyhoo, that's all I have for today! Linking up to a couple of awesome blogs...go check them out!

Yep...still here!

Yes, I am still creating, painting, sanding, and apparently from the lack of blog posts, mismanaging my time! However it's only been 2 months worth of mismanaged time...really, is it that bad? (Insert sarcastic voice here!) So, what is new at Sparkle & Shine? Busy, busy, busy! Lots of shab to fab redo's done...
Like this horrid little beast...yuck!

Now she is a beautiful, sassy red! Love!

This little lovely I nabbed from GW! I love it!

Isn't she sweet? She is up at The Red Poppy but I often think she should be in my living room!

Not attractive...at all!

Now she is...wouldn't this be great in a little girls room? Love!

AND....my all time favorite! A super - duper curb side find by my sister in law! Thankfully she grabbed it for me....love, love, love! Why do people throw these things away????

A fantastic old rocker...painted a very yucky, ugly brown!

Here she is all done up in a fabulous shabby white! Love!

So, that is what I've been up too! Hopefully I can update sooner than in two months! Until then...happy junking and shabbing! Hugs! Kristen

Happy Monday!

It's Monday already! Ugh! I like the weekends. We can come and go as we please, nap, run around, nap, play outside, nap, visit family and friends, nap...do you see a pattern here? It's 0945 Monday morning and I could seriously go for a nap already! That won't be happening so I'll just have to rely on my good old diet coke! =) It was a busy weekend but I managed to get a few things done...my most fave is this wonderful little project...
The hubster and I picked up this rusty old basket at Junkbonanza. We originally thought it was an old egg basket but the more we looked at it we think it was a covering for a fan or something of the like. It is unique and fun! We hung it from the ceiling and I had put our fresh fruit in there all winter but now that it is getting warmer out the fruit ripens too quickly so I had to redo it. I bought (yes, bought...do you think I could find some old terracotta pots ANYWHERE?! NO!!!) Anyhoo, I painted them black, added the numbers and fresh herbs. I love, love it! It's original and fun! Here it is from another angle!
Isn't just the cutest stinkin thing? Love!

Another love I did this weekend is this...
I am in LOVE with blue mason jars! I found these 3 as a set and I knew exactly what I would do with them! I had found this little box at a thrift store and was just waiting to fill it with the perfect item and the blue jars were it! A little bit of spring!

Here they are holding tulips I had put it them last week! Love! So springy!
Both of these little projects remind me to "think outside the box", it's easy, fun, and I bet nobody has ones like it! Have a great day I'm off to nap write a research paper! Hugs!

Buffet redo

I saw this U-G-L-Y little buffet at the thrift store! It was such a sad, ugly, little thing that I had to take her home and make her pretty! Well what a transformation it is...
The lighting in this picture is awful...it is a beautiful shabby black!

This light is better...see those shabbed edged!

Love how it turned out! This little gem is up at the shop! =)
Enjoy your evening! Hugs!

For the Love of Music!!!

There is always music in one form or another playing at our house...Rolling Stones, MercyMe, Lady GaGA, Barney! Yep, we have quite the assortment - but you can really dance to anything - not that I would want ANYONE to see that happen! So, it is no wonder that I am completely OBSESSED with vintage sheet music right now! I love, love, love it! Everything I seem to recreate has it in it, on it, or over it!!!!  I even dreamt about it...would that be considered as obsessive?! I THINK SO!!!
A very U-G-L-Y candleholder...but she had potential once I removed the red velvet covering....I think it was cemented onto it! Should have taken a before pic with the velvet on there so you could get the whole groovy effect....can you say 1970's? Peace out!
Ahhh....now we are talking!
Hoping to get some creating done today, I know there will be music involved, and I would bet there will be some vintage sheet music involved too! After a weekend of writing research papers I TOTALLY need it! Hope you have a great day! Hugs!

Let there be paint...and spring!

Does anyone else have spring fever?! Now that it is warming up, I just want to be outside painting and creating! Forget the daily housework, forget the laundry, forget spring cleaning...that's what husbands are for!!! Haha! Last weekend it was beautiful for Minnesota so I opened the garage doors and painted away....here is one example of the amazing power of paint!
Really, really ugly isn't she? But the price was right and she had great bones!

Tada...afterward!
I love it! Its shabby, distressed, and with the vintage knobs...perfect! I saw the idea for the numbers at Pottery Barn and loved the look! This little gem is available at The Red Poppy! Linking up to Domestically Speakings paint party! I love paint!

Now for my love of white....pitter patter goes my heart!

Picked up these paper mache forms from a thrift store...not cute!

Here they are after Kate and I mod-podged vintage sheet music to them! Love, love, love!
These took awhile (about 3 hours!) so I wanted to keep them, however, Kate thought we should sell them because I told her she could keep the money...what was I thinking? So these lovelies are up at the shop...I'm secretly hoping they don't sell so I can sneak them back home! Does that make me a bad mom? =)

Here are some more "loves". I love the pedestal wood bowl. All shabbed out with the vintage covered eggs..."sigh!" I love them! The trays with the vintage paper in the background are also favorites!

A close up of the eggs...just used vintage music sheet, modge podge, and plastic eggs! Super easy but it was a little timely...however, when you are doing it with your 11 year old who still thinks you're cool...priceless! Linking up to White Wednesday party!

Enjoy your day! Hugs!

Easy shabby photo blocks!

What to do when it's minus 5000 degrees in Minnesota, you have a sick 9 year old home from school, and you, yourself, are feeling a little cruddy? Grab some scraps and get creating! I made these little picture blocks years ago and had 3 left over that have just been kicking around in my crap creative room!

These were so easy to make...like I said, I made them a long time ago but I just took a 2x2 and cut it into little squares, drilled a hole at the top, took some wire and bent it into the shapes, then just hot glued the wire into the hole I had drilled.  I did paint the wood blocks an off white.  That was it! Cute little picture holders for next to nothing - you probably could use any old scrap wood you have taking up space around the garage!

I stamped some material I had with an awesome little french script background stamp. I use Staz on ink for these types of things...it works excellent and doesn't fade.

Then I took a bunch of scraps and embellishments I had laying around...some old, some new. I just started glueing and creating...no pattern, no thinking, just random "thoughtlessness"! My fave!

I took two pics of the girls and changed them to B&W, resized, and added them.

I didn't add pics to the bottom two...I don't know if I'll use them for gifts or put them up at The Red Poppy!  We'll have to see!

A close up of Kate...
A closeup of Carly...
The finished project on a fab little shelf!

Just a note...the hubby calls my craft room the "crap" room...most of the time he is right...it's such a disaster that you could lose a small child in there! It's my creative room....messy as it is, it's mine and it's my little piece of sanity when I need it...and in my defense (my brainiac train of thinking) is I don't want to waste my creative time cleaning it up so I just work away..."crap" and all!

Easy, easy, easy project AND I got rid of some stuff (even though it's little...it counts) from the crap creative, craft room! Hugs! Kristen
